The Minister of Agriculture, Carlos Fávaro stated that the President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, will announce plans to address rising food prices on Thursday.
President Lula will meet with sector associations and representatives around 15:30 to discuss the initiatives in advance, as stated by the minister.
The actions planned by the Chief Executive for the meeting with agricultural sector representatives at 2:30 p.m. were talked about in a prior meeting with ministers this morning.
Fávaro described the meeting as preparatory in his remarks to reporters following the three-hour session.
The meeting with the business sector is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. (Brasilia time) at the Palácio do Planalto instead of the Ministry of Agriculture as previously planned. Fávaro announced the change in venue.
Lula predicts that Brazil’s economy will expand by slightly more than 2.5% in 2025.
The President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, stated that the country’s growth this year will exceed 2.5%, differing from the governor of São Paulo’s forecast of up to 2% GDP growth.
Lula stated that there are predictions of a recession and Brazil’s growth will reach a maximum of 2.5%, but he is confident that it will actually exceed 2.5%. He also mentioned that in 2024, the country is expected to grow by 3.8%.
The president will still release the GDP figures for last year in early March.
Lula spoke alongside Tarcisio during a speech at the launch event for the Santos-Guarujá tunnel project.
“We aim to prevent the increase in egg and meat prices,” the President of the Republic stated.
Lula used the occasion to support his government’s initiatives like Bolsa Família and investments in education such as Foot-of-Mea, emphasizing the importance of money flowing into workers’ hands and stating that Bolsa Família is not a long-term solution.
The PT recently revealed plans to establish a federal institute in Guarujá, São Paulo, stating that they will proceed with such projects wherever funding is available.
